Zach Ferrara & Romário Ferreira Duo






The Zach Ferrara & Romário Ferreira Duo is an acoustic guitar instrumental group from the Capital Region. The two play exciting takes on classic tunes in the styles of Gypsy swing, Latin jazz, American jazz, and contemporary music. The unique combination of Zach’s pick style playing and Romário’s fingerstyle create a distinctive, lively and spirited sound. 


Zach Ferrara is a composer and educator that for years has been teaching in the area and performing in various music settings. He draws his influences from a wide range of sources consisting primarily of jazz, world music, funk, and the blues. Some of his most notable performance venues have included: The Egg, Massry Center for the Arts, Proctor’s Theatre, Troy Saving Bank Music Hall, The Linda (WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio), Provence, Schenectady Light Opera Company, 9 Maple Ave., Blu Stone Bistro, Woodstock Playhouse, Charles R. Wood Theatre, Bridge Street Theatre, Angelo's 677, Freedom Park’s Summer Concert Series, The Garlic Festival as well as the Broadway Theatre (NJ), Downtown Cabaret Theatre (CT), and Casinorama (Canada). Ferrara has released three CDs as a leader including "Zach Ferrara" (Gypsy Jazz - 2017), "Continuance" (Solo CD of originals - 2017), and "Octet" (large combo Jazz - 2014).


Romário Ferriera comes from a family of musicians and was an active part of the music scene in Brazil before coming to the states. He is a multi-instrumentalist and features his nylon-string guitar and accordion in the duo. The diverse music of Brazil including the Bossa Nova is prevalent in his guitar playing. Ferriera also finds tremendous influence in Latin, French, Portuguese. American, and Italian music. The classical music he has studied and is fond of is a driving force in his fingerstyle guitar playing.
